The Big Solar Co-op’s bond offer with Ethex closed in September having been a runaway success.
Its original target was £800,000, with the intention that a second bond offer would be launched at the end of the year to raise the rest of the capital for the project. In the event Big Solar Co-op shot straight past our target and raised the full £1.8 million in one go!
Work on the Whiteborough project is now well underway, with the site preparation work done, site marked out and serious trenching, piling and installation work taking place. The first batch of solar panels is ready to go, held in secure storage a few miles away until we’re ready to install them.
Big Solar Co-op also carried out the first phase of the biodiversity plan, with ground preparation taking place before wildflower seeds were sown ahead of construction, meaning they have a better chance to become established. The hedging and habitat creation works will follow in the new year, after works are complete on site.
