Shropshire & Telford Community Energy (STCE) have so far raised £260k through their second share offer through Sharenergy. There are 60 new investor members joining the 120 who joined in 2023. If you want to join them then hurry as the share offer closes on Nov 14th. This offer will help to secure ownership of the 10MW Twemlows solar farm near Whitchurch, enhance the society’s Community Fund and increase the membership.
STCE raised £294k in 2023, they have recently paid 6% to their first investor members and are targetting the same return for new investors. As for all community investments this cannot be guaranteed but Twemlows has been running for nearly ten years and is well engineered.
As Twemlows is registered for the Feed In Tariff there will be a considerable Community Benefit Fund of around £3m over the next 16 years. £66,000 has already been distributed with several community buildings gaining PV panels or energy efficiency work, Including the Festival Drayton Centre, Market Drayton and Rushbury Village Hall.
STCE are also working on improving the biodiversity at Twemlows which is next door to the Prees Heath Butterfly Conservation site. In addition STCE have been working on the innovative Bishop’s Castle Heat & Wind project (with assistance from Sharenergy).
