The Small Wind Co-op has just launched a new bond offer to raise the money to buy an additional wind turbine close to Durham. Following a successful bond offer in November 2018 to buy one operating wind turbine at the site, this bond offer is to raise the money to purchase the second similar 225kW turbine in the same location. This will increase their fleet of turbines to five (two in Scotland, one in Wales and these two in England).
Buying an operational turbine won’t save any additional carbon directly of course, but it’s an important part of their plans to increase their fleet and improve their financial clout while they develops several new wind turbine sites which will have to operate entirely without subsidy.
These bonds will be repaid in instalments over a 10-yr period and attract fixed interest of 4.5% on capital retained from year 2. Interest will be 2.5% in year 1.
For all the details see the How to Apply page on the Small Wind Cooperative website.
This bond offer is another opportunity to join over 500 members and bondholders across the UK. You’ll also be contributing to community funds local to the turbines at all sites.
